A US Republican congresswoman has described Washington\u2019s massive military aid to Ukraine as a \u201cproxy war\u201d against Russia, calling war \u201ca deadly profitable industry\u201d and demanding US withdrawal from the NATO military alliance.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe American people do not want war with Russia, but NATO & our own foolish leaders are dragging us into one. We should pull out of NATO,\u201d said right-wing Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene in a Twitter post on Thursday while referring to the Biden administration\u2019s massive military aid to Ukraine as a \u201cproxy war\u201d against Russia that Americans have no appetite for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine is the \u201cnew Iraq wrapped up with a pretty little NATO bow, with a nuclear present inside,\u201d she further added in a series of tweets in which she has expressed fierce criticism of Washington\u2019s response to the Ukraine conflict by sending billions of taxpayer dollars to the country and risking a potential nuclear war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only people vying for a conflict with Russia are\u00a0\u201cthose who make money off of it,\u201d\u00a0the US legislator further emphasized, identifying them as \u201cNGOs, defense contracts of all kinds, grants, business deals, even humanitarian aid, political consultants, & more,\u201d\u00a0adding:\u00a0\u201cWar is an industry. A deadly profitable industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGrinding up Ukraine to fight with Russia is disgusting, they could have been an ally,\u201d the congresswoman \u2013 known for her strong support of former US President Donald Trump \u2013 reiterated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warmongers in Washington seeking war with Russia \u201cshould suit up and go fight it\u201d themselves, she went on to emphasize. \u201cSend your kids and leave ours alone. Pay for it yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lawmaker further pointed to a host of troubles across the US that she views as more pressing for the American people, from soaring inflation to fentanyl overdoses and rampant crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greene\u2019s strong criticism of the Biden administration\u2019s military aid to Kiev came as Washington unveiled yet another $820 million weapons package for Ukraine on Friday, taking the total of US military support to Kiev under Biden to $7.6 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new package includes surface-to-air missile systems and counter-artillery radars to boost the embattled Ukrainian military.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the acting Pentagon press secretary Todd Breasseale said $770 million of the assistance will be provided under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which allows it to procure weapons from defense contractors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also last month Biden administration officials vowed that the US and its European allies were preparing for a protracted war in Ukraine even at the risk of \u201cglobal recession and mounting hunger\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBiden administration officials had discussed the possibility of a protracted conflict [in Ukraine] with global spillover effects even before February\u201d when US intelligence had suggested Russia was preparing to invade the country, The Washington Post reported on June 18, citing a senior State Department official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur guiding light is that the outcome of Russia being able to achieve its maximalist demands is really bad for the United States, really bad for our partners and allies, and really bad for the global community,\u201d the State Department official noted, as quoted in the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
