Bulloch County native, Harrison\u00a0Deal\u00a0<\/a>was killed in a\u00a0car accident on I-16\u00a0<\/a>at the Pooler Parkway around 10 AM this morning. Harrison was traveling alone at the time of the accident. Harrison was working on Senator Kelly Loeffler\u2019s campaign staff and was believed to be traveling to advance a campaign event with Vice President Mike Pence at the Savannah airport.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Harrison was a 2018 graduate of Bulloch Academy and a student at the University of Georgia. He is the son of Bulloch County Commissioner Curt Deal, his mother is Jenni Groover Deal and was brother to Hannah and Halli Deal.<\/h5>\n
The news of Harrison\u2019s death has been painful for everyone who knew him. He was a remarkably talented, compassionate and driven young man. He loved politics and was fortunate at a very young age to be involved in Georgia politics at the highest level.<\/h5>\n

Friendship with Governor Kemps Family began in Statesboro<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Harrison met Governor Brian Kemp\u2019s daughter at a campaign event in Statesboro when Kemp was running for Governor. Governor Kemp tweeted a statement and photo of the Kemp and Deal family last Christmas at the Governor\u2019s Mansion.<\/h5>\n
\u201cToday, we lost a member of our \u201cKemp Strong\u201d family and words cannot express how much Harrison Deal\u2019s life, love and support meant to us. He was a person of deep faith, unmatched integrity, and incredible kindness. Harrison was the Kemp son and brother we never had,\u201d Kemp said in a statement.<\/h5>\n
\u201cOur prayers are with the Deal Family \u2013 and countless others \u2013 as they mourn the tragic loss of Harrison. He brought people together and made everyone feel important and special. 2020 has been marked by adversity, tragedy and pain. For the Kemp Family, weathering this storm will be the most difficult challenge yet.\u201d<\/h5>\n
Both Loeffler and Gov. Brian Kemp canceled their appearances at a campaign event in Savannah with Vice President Mike Pence as they mourn the loss of Deal.<\/h5>\n

\u201cIt is with an extremely heavy heart that we mourn the loss of Harrison Deal. My heart aches for his family, and Jeff and I will continue to surround them in love and prayer in the days ahead. Harrison was a beloved member of our campaign team,\u201d Loeffler said in a statement. \u201cMore importantly, Harrison was a smart, bright, loving, loyal and outstanding young man. Harrison embodied the very best of this campaign \u2013 and the very best of our state. We will forever cherish and honor Harrison\u2019s memory, and I ask every Georgian to join us in praying for his family during this difficult time.\u201d<\/h5>\n

Deal previously interned for Sen. David Perdue\u2019s office in summer 2019. Perdue released the following statement Friday:<\/h5>\n
\u201cBonnie and I are devastated to learn of the passing of Harrison Deal, a young man from Bulloch County. Harrison interned in my Atlanta office in the summer of 2019, and was currently working as a field representative for Senator Loeffler\u2019s campaign. He was a member of the University of Georgia Class of 2022. Harrison was a smart, kind young man with a bright future ahead of him, and he is gone too soon.\u00a0 We are praying for his parents, Curt and Jenni Deal, and his sisters, Hannah and Halli. I ask the people of Georgia to join us in keeping the entire Deal family in their hearts on this terrible day.\u201d<\/h5>\n
