Unemployment has risen in Georgia

According to Geostat, in the third quarter of 2021, the unemployment rate in Georgia increased compared to the same period  of the previous  year. If last year the figure was 17 percent, this year it is 19.5 percent.

The highest unemployment rate in Georgia during the last 15 quarters was in the last quarter – 22.1 percent. This means that now the situation has improved.

„In the third quarter of 2021, the labor force (economically active population) accounted for 52.8 percent of the able-bodied population (15 years and older), which is 2.5 percentage points more than in the same period of the previous year, and the employment rate increased by 0.7 points And 42.5 percent”  – indicated in the statement released by Geostat. According to the organization, in the third quarter of 2021, the share of employees in the total number of employees was 67.3 percent, which is 0.7 percentage points more than in the same period of the last year.
