The Catholicon-Patriarch of all Georgia, his holiness Ilia II visited Moscow where he attended the events dedicated to 70 year anniversary of the Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia.

“I consider your visit, the role of the Russian and Georgian Church in retaining good relations between our nations to be very important”-stated the Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia at the meeting with the Catholicon-Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II.

“If the politicians and diplomats, as a rule, work on the level of consciousness and the businessmen, as I often say, on the level of their wallets and stomachs, the churches act on the level of hearts of people. Without this link between the hearts of people there will be no good relations between the countries and nations. Thus, I consider your visit, the role of the Russian and Georgian Church in retaining good relations between our nations to be very important”-stated the Patriarch of Russia. According to his statement, the bilateral relations are positively developing as “we live close to each other”. First of all this is related to the fact that we live close to each other, we have frequent contact with each other, your bishops visit Russia, our bishops go to Georgia to visit holy places”-said the Patriarch of Russia. After this statement made in the presence of the press media the Patriarch Kirill noted that there were some other issues they would discuss without the media. “We have to do our best to improve the relations between the political authorities of our countries, the Orthodox Churches of Georgia and Russia play a very important role for our states and nations ” –declared the Catholicon-Patriarch of all Georgia, his holiness Ilia II in Moscow during the meeting with the Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia.
